How to solve Novalya Chrome extension problems?

Quick summary


This procedure solves 90% of technical problems encountered with Novalya. Follow steps in order, from simplest to most complex.



Step 1: Uncheck and recheck extension


Quickest solution (30 seconds)


Procedure:


  1. Click puzzle piece icon (extensions) top right of Chrome
  2. Click Manage all extensions
  3. Top right of page, enable Developer Mode
  4. Find Novalya in list
  5. Uncheck extension
  6. Wait 2 seconds
  7. Recheck extension


Always enable Developer Mode before unchecking/rechecking. This provides access to all necessary options to manage extension.


Then:

  • Reload Facebook or Instagram page
  • Check if problem is solved


This simple manipulation solves majority of display and functionality problems.



Step 2: Remove Google automatic translation


Disable Google Translate (30 seconds)


Important: Google Translate automatic translation creates bugs on all sites, including Novalya, Facebook and Instagram.


Check if translation is active:


On Facebook/Instagram:

  • If you see "Translate this page" banner at top
  • If page is already automatically translated


On Novalya:

  • If interface is automatically translated
  • If buttons are translated


Disable translation:


  1. Right-click on page
  2. If you see "Translate to [language]" → DO NOT click
  3. Chrome > Settings > Languages
  4. Disable "Offer to translate pages"
  5. Or disable translation for facebook.com, instagram.com and novalya.com specifically


Then:

  • Reload Facebook, Instagram and Novalya
  • Pages must be in their original language



Step 3: Change Facebook/Instagram language to English


Use English for more stability (1 minute)


For more stable use, we recommend using Facebook and Instagram in English. Novalya development is done primarily in English before adaptation to other languages.


Why English:

  • Allows identifying if problem is language-specific
  • Quickly isolates problem
  • Most stable Novalya version


Change Facebook language:


  1. Facebook > Settings & Privacy > Settings
  2. Languages > Facebook language
  3. Select English (US)
  4. Reload page


Change Instagram language:


  1. Instagram > Settings > Language
  2. Select English
  3. Reload page


Then:

  • Relaunch Novalya
  • Check if problem persists



Step 4: Clear Facebook/Instagram cookies


Delete all cookies from concerned sites (1 minute)


Quick procedure:


  1. On Facebook or Instagram, click padlock 🔒 left of URL
  2. Click Cookies
  3. Click Manage cookies
  4. Delete ALL items with trash icon


Warning: Deleting cookies will log you out of Facebook and Instagram. Have your password ready to reconnect.


After deletion:


  1. Reconnect to Facebook
  2. Reconnect to Instagram
  3. Reconnect to Novalya
  4. Check if problem is solved



Step 5: Disable other Chrome extensions


Identify extension conflicts (2 minutes)


Why:

  • Some extensions can create conflicts with Novalya
  • Abandoned extensions (no updates) create Chrome bugs


Procedure:


  1. Chrome > Extensions (puzzle piece)
  2. Manage all extensions
  3. Disable all other extensions except Novalya
  4. Reload Facebook/Instagram
  5. Check if Novalya works


If it works:

  • Reactivate extensions one by one
  • Identify which causes conflict
  • Keep it disabled or remove it


Common problematic extensions:

  • Too aggressive ad blockers
  • Translation extensions
  • Interface modification extensions
  • Abandoned extensions (last update > 1 year)



Step 6: Create new Chrome session


Isolate Chrome profile (5 minutes)


When to use:

  • Extreme case if nothing else works
  • To isolate if problem comes from Chrome profile


Procedure:


  1. Chrome > Settings
  2. You and Google > Add
  3. Create new Chrome profile
  4. In this new profile:
  • Install Novalya extension
  • Log into Facebook
  • Log into Instagram
  • Log into Novalya
  1. Test if Novalya works


If it works:

  • Problem came from your main Chrome profile
  • You can use this new profile
  • Or clean old profile


If it doesn't work:

  • Problem is elsewhere (Meta restriction, network problem, etc.)
  • Contact support



Quick 2-minute checklist


Before contacting support, check:


✅ Developer Mode enabled + Extension unchecked then rechecked

✅ Google translation disabled

✅ Facebook and Instagram in English

✅ FB/IG cookies deleted (ALL) and reconnected

✅ Other extensions disabled

✅ Tested on new Chrome session

3. Campaign name

  • Specify exact name of concerned campaign
  • Allows support to quickly check server side


4. Steps already performed

  • List steps from this article you tested
  • Indicate what worked or not


5. Specific case: Problem with tags/pipelines

  • If your campaign stops or doesn't work
  • Test without adding tag/pipeline
  • If it works without tag → problem comes from tag
  • Mention it to support with concerned tag name


Goal is to isolate problem and give maximum information to support to quickly resolve bug.



FAQ


Must I do all steps in order?


Yes. Start with Step 1 (simplest). If it doesn't solve, move to Step 2, and so on.


How long does complete procedure take?


About 8-12 minutes to test everything. But often Steps 1-3 are enough (2-3 minutes).


Can I switch Facebook back to French after?


Yes, but we recommend keeping English for optimal Novalya use.


Will clearing cookies delete my data?


No, only your sessions. You'll just need to reconnect. Your messages, friends, photos, etc. stay intact.


What to do if no step works?


Contact support with detail of steps performed. This will help us identify problem quickly.
