What happens if I delete a pipeline?

Quick summary: Deleting pipeline removes this pipeline from your CRM. Contacts are only deleted if they're not present in any other pipeline.

If contact is only in this pipeline

If contact exists only in deleted pipeline:

• ✅ Pipeline is deleted
• ✅ Contact is deleted from CRM (because they don't belong to any other pipeline)
• ✅ All their data is lost (notes, history, information)

Example

Situation:

Contact "Paul"
└─ Pipeline "Summer campaign" → Stage "Contacted"
   (Paul isn't in any other pipeline)

Action: You delete "Summer campaign" pipeline

Result: Paul is completely deleted from CRM.

If contact is in multiple pipelines

If contact is present in at least one other pipeline:

• ✅ Chosen pipeline is deleted
• ✅ Contact stays in CRM
• ✅ They disappear only from deleted pipeline
• ✅ Their other pipelines aren't affected

Example

Situation:

Contact "Marie"
├─ Pipeline "Hot prospects" → Stage "Conversation"
├─ Pipeline "Q1 Campaign" → Stage "Contacted"
└─ Pipeline "VIP" → Stage "Active"

Action: You delete "Q1 Campaign" pipeline

Result:

Contact "Marie" (kept)
├─ Pipeline "Hot prospects" → Stage "Conversation"
└─ Pipeline "VIP" → Stage "Active"

Marie stays in CRM, only removed from "Q1 Campaign".

Recommendation before deletion

Checks to do

Before deleting pipeline, verify:

1. How many contacts are only in this pipeline?

• These contacts will be permanently deleted

2. Are there important contacts?

• Verify they're also in other pipelines
• Or add them first to another pipeline

3. Do you need to export data?

• Keep trace if necessary
• Note important information

Preventive solution

To avoid losing important contacts:

Recommended method:

1. Before deleting, add all contacts to another pipeline
2. Then delete empty or obsolete pipeline

How to do it:

• Select all contacts from pipeline
• Bulk actions → "Add to another pipeline"
• Choose destination pipeline
• Validate
• Then delete original pipeline

What's deleted with pipeline

When you delete pipeline, following elements are deleted:

Pipeline itself:

• ✅ Pipeline name
• ✅ Pipeline color
• ✅ All stages of this pipeline
• ✅ Associated tag (because today pipeline = tag)

Contacts (depending on situation):

• ⚠️ Contacts present only in this pipeline → Completely deleted
• ✅ Contacts also present in other pipelines → Kept

Data of deleted contacts:

• Notes
• History
• Complete contact profile

Quota liberation

When you delete pipeline, you immediately free up space in your quota.

Example:

• You have 10 pipelines (Pro Plan quota)
• You delete 1 pipeline
• You can immediately create 1 new pipeline

Use case examples

Example 1: Ended campaign (contacts to keep)

Situation: "Black Friday 2025" campaign ended, you want to clean up.

Best practice:

1. Move interesting contacts to "Prospects"
2. Uninteresting contacts stay only in "Black Friday"
3. Delete "Black Friday" pipeline

Result:

• Interesting contacts kept in "Prospects"
• Irrelevant contacts automatically deleted
• Pipeline cleaned up

Example 2: Test pipeline (contacts to delete)

Situation: "Test" pipeline with worthless test contacts.

Direct action:

1. Delete "Test" pipeline

Result:

• Pipeline deleted
• All test contacts deleted
• Quota freed

Example 3: CRM reorganization (contacts to redistribute)

Situation: You had 3 pipelines per product, switching to 1 global pipeline.

Best practice:

1. Create new "Global customers" pipeline
2. Move all contacts from 3 old pipelines to new one
3. Delete 3 old pipelines

Result:

• All contacts kept
• Simplified structure
• 2 quota spaces freed

Can I recover deleted pipeline?

No. Deletion is definitive and irreversible. You'll need to manually recreate pipeline if needed.

Can I recover deleted contacts?

No. Contacts deleted with pipeline are permanently lost. No recovery possible.

Is there confirmation before deletion?

Yes. Novalya always asks for confirmation before deleting pipeline to avoid accidental deletions.

How long does it take to delete pipeline?

Deletion is immediate. As soon as you confirm, pipeline and concerned contacts disappear.

What happens with Messenger/Instagram tags?

Tag (because pipeline = tag) is also deleted. Contacts lose colored tag on Messenger/Instagram if they're not in any other pipeline.
